Swim Training for all Levels of Ability

The Sooner Swim Club (SSC) consists of three distinct swim groups; Minnows, Dolphins and Sharks.  Each grouping provides appropriate instruction for the diverse abilities of our swimmers.  The primary focus of each group is to provide stroke training, goal based activities and personal encouragement.  As the swimmers progress through the levels, they must achieve basic standards for technique and endurance.

Minnows can swim the length of the pool freestyle and backstroke. When they have become proficient in breast and fly, and can do multiple laps of free and back they are ready for the Dolphins.

Dolphins can do all the strokes, and can swim multiple laps of freestyle and backstroke. When a the swimmer is physically capable to begin training, they move to the Sharks. Training includes using a clock, swimming sets of 10 x 50 on 1:30, Doing flip turns throughout longer swims, lane management - circle swimming, 5 second drag and other basic techniques.

Sharks are a fully structured training group. Focus is on physical and mental development.  Physical development - shoulder strength, torso, legs etc. as needed to compete on a state or regional level.  Mental development - Holding focus through out a workout, handling wins and loses, setting short term and long term goals etc.
